ANNA M. NADAL holds a degree in gold- and silversmithing from the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artisticos of Barcelona and is also qualified in sculpture and painting from the University of Barcelona where she graduated in fine arts. She has been designing jewellery in her own workshop since 1980.

Designer jewellery

Jewellery in both gold and white gold conceived and designed as sculptures. These are unique pieces inspired by nature, composed of multiple textures, with ridged forms and a matt finish. These pieces are deliberately imperfect and give the impression that they have not been quite completed. These pieces are distinct from the images of classical jewellery in that they are replete with ethnic and primitive references linked to the traditions of craftsmanship found amongst African tribes and in Ancient Egypt. The jewellery of ANNA M. NADAL is constantly innovative and elegant and yet of a stunning purity of design. There are four principal themes:

The organic line

The sinuous forms of the pieces in this organic line recall those elements of nature that are spontaneous and unpredictable and yet have a wonderful expressive beauty.

The mineral line

The irregular and ridged appearance of these pieces leaves the impression that they are not quite finished but at the same time makes them intensely thought provoking.

The geometric line

The random repetition of irregular geometric figures gives rise to jewellery designed with great daring; a blend of accuracy and spontaneity.

The structural line

These designs recall architectural and industrial structures which, when made in miniature form and with precious materials, acquire a restrained elegance.

The Bangle of the Drac Collection

Made in 18 karat gold and with a completely matt finish save for some brightness in the relief, this piece is inspired by the skin of a mediaeval dragon. It is strongly ethnic in that the numerous irregularities and imperfections confer a primitive appearance reminiscent of African tribal jewellery. This is a unique piece, made to measure for each person. While all are similar, no two are the same.
